Dr. Geeta Perks is a general and cosmetic dentist with over 15 years experience in dentistry.  She graduated in 2001 from the University of Manchester in the UK.  Geeta prides herself on her friendly, caring and gentle approach to dentistry; an approach that is appreciated by patients of all ages and especially those who are nervous of dental treatment. She understands how preventive dentistry is of vital importance to her patients' health and wellbeing.

As a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) Geeta regularly attends postgraduate courses in her special interests in order to learn the latest techniques and treatments to offer her patients.  She completed a one-year residency in restorative and cosmetic treatments, which include: tooth coloured fillings, ceramic crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays, veneers, and smile makeovers.

Geeta has introduced dento-facial aesthetics into the practice for both therapeutic treatments (e.g., muscle relaxation for jaw problems, improving lopsided and gummy smiles etc.) and preventative anti-wrinkle treatments for the face. She offers dermal filler treatments to improve common issues with appearances (e.g. reducing the ‘black triangle’ spaces between teeth or beautiful lip enhancements to improve the smile).  Patients like her aesthetic treatments, as they are non-surgical, quick, effective and relatively painless. She received her training in the art of facial symmetry in the UK and has also undergone advanced training and examinations in facial aesthetics at the Australasian Academy of Dento-Facial Aesthetics (AADFA), an academy she is a member of.

Geeta is also a member of the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry (ASID), having undertaken the accredited implant examinations and provides dental implant treatment options for her patients. She is experienced in the management of temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, root canal treatments, and tooth extractions. She has also undertaken numerous advanced courses in teeth whitening treatments including Zoom whitening. She is also fully accredited in laser diode dental treatments (e.g. for gum treatments, cold sores/ulcers).

Geeta enjoys treating children and received honours for her research on "the attitudes of paediatric dentists' towards different child behavioural management techniques" and was presented with award from the British Society of Paediatic Dentistry for her work. Her research has been published in the British Dental Journal.

Geeta is also a trustee of the UK-based Mouth Cancer Foundation (MCF) charity that spreads awareness of all types of head and neck cancers. The MCF also helps support mouth cancer sufferers, their carers and health care professionals. She understands the importance early detection for mouth cancer and routinely screens her patients for the disease during check up appointments.

Geeta and her husband moved to Melbourne in 2011, and have recently become Australian citizens. In her spare time Geeta loves playing badminton, making jewellery and enjoys exploring the delights that Melbourne has to offer.
