That’s why our dentists use The Wand STA (Single Tooth Anaesthesia) system for patients who don’t opt for sleep dentistry. It’s a high tech, computer-controlled device that provides effective, targeted anaesthesia throughout your procedure. You’re completely numb where we’re working – and nowhere else. All without the initial pain and long-lasting numbness of a traditional injection.
The precisely directed anaesthesia made possible by The Wand leaves the tongue and cheeks unaffected, so you can talk and eat normally as soon as it’s over. With no loss of sensation, there’s no slurring your words when you speak, no drooling or accidently biting yourself as you chew your food. You can go out to dinner or go back to your office just after you leave our clinic.
The first thing you’ll notice about The Wand is that there’s no syringe. Instead, your dentist uses a comfortable, non-threatening handpiece connected to a computerised anaesthetic reservoir. The ergonomic design of the handpiece lets the dentist manoeuvre it to the exact area of your mouth where the anaesthesia is needed. As the name implies, this can be localised to a single tooth, but The Wand is also capable of numbing larger sections of the gum for more involved procedures.
Once your dentist has selected the amount of anaesthetic needed to numb the target area, The Wand’s sophisticated software does the rest. It begins delivering the anaesthetic immediately and continues at a carefully calculated rate for as long as the procedure lasts, blocking pain and reducing inflammation.
